Commonwealth Games

The 2006 Commonwealth Games was held in Melbourne, between 15 March and 26 March 2006. It was the largest sporting event to be staged in Melbourne, eclipsing the 1956 Summer Olympics in terms of the number of teams competing, athletes competing and events being held.  Our team was responsible for cleaning and waste management across 7 venues throughout Central Melbourne and Regional Victoria, managing basketball, shooting and lawn bowls events as well as other 'secret locations'.  We deployed over 80 staff across a one month operation in which this event has been our levering tool into international events.

Australian Open

Melbourne is fortunate enough to host the Australian Open at Rod Laver Arena and Hisense Arena, every year in January and Douglas Site Services has been involved with this event for the last six years.  Not only do we provide cleaning and waste management services for the event, we provide additional support staff to venue operators in areas of production.  Typically we employ 40-50 staff across a 3 week period.

Portsea Polo

This is one of Victoria’s most prestigious events located at Point Nepean in Portsea. With over 4500 attendants the event is held each year in January and this year (2009) raised over $90,000 for the Murdoch Children's Research Institute.   Our role is to keep the grounds free from litter, ensure the toilets are kept clean and restocked, removing waste from corporate marquees, as well as the removal of waste and recyclable waste from the grounds and National Park.
